The employees of The Farmers Bank are excited to announce that last Thursday night during all the rain and storms of the day,
The Tennessean announced the 2018 Top Workplaces in Tennessee and our bank has received this honor. Not needing to brag on my workplace, but the employees of the bank already knew we were winners!!! From the time you enter into employment at the bank, you know you have hit on the right place to work. That’s why we have employees that have been here for years (some were obviously dropped at our doorsteps when they were babies because they have been here for some 40 and 45 years and they are not as old as I am!)
I remember during my interview to work at The Farmers Bank, our now CEO, Tommy Whittaker made the remark that if I worked for this bank my priorities should be God first, my family second and work third. He had me then and there. How do you top that one?
This honor is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by research partner Energage, LLC (formerly WorkplaceDynamics), a leading provider of technology-based employee engagement tools. The anonymous survey measures several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection, just to name a few. Almost all of our employees participated in this survey.

The Farmers Bank employs approximately 160 people, some you see on a daily basis like our tellers, CSRs and bank officers. Some are in the backrooms working their magic. You might know their voices when you call but have never seen their faces. All of our employees are an important part of what makes our bank so successful for you as our customer and for each of us as a team.
What sets The Farmers Bank up to be awarded this honor? What makes us different from other places of employment? Glad you asked. I can answer that question by starting at the top. The Directors, CEO and other top officers of The Farmers Bank make you feel welcome, they make you a part of the “family”. They know our names, they ask us for our thoughts and ideas and they listen. It’s a personal thing with them. We feel appreciated and rewarded for our loyalty.
Now, the question remains, with all this appreciation and loyalty do we ever have problems? Well…Does a 1 ½ legged duck veer slightly to one side? Yes, we are human – not perfect! However, issues are small and always resolved, unless, of course; you are the one that ate my piece of chocolate cake that was in the refrigerator with my name on it, then NO!!! You know who you are and I am still looking for you!!!

Becoming a Top Workplace isn’t something we bought off Amazon; it’s an achievement organizations work for, a distinction that gives us a competitive advantage. This honor comes from within.
